About Us

SUPPAN FINE ARTS, established in 1974 by Martin Suppan, specializes in 20th Century & Contemporary Art. In the early years the focus was particular on Austrian impressionism, expressionism and inter-war painting such as Marie Egner, Alfred Zoff, Alfons Walde, Josef Floch, Oskar Kokoschka and Egon Schiele. Throughout the years, international masters like Camille Pissaro and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec as well as modern masters like Wolfgang Paalen, Victor Vasarely and Pablo Picasso have become part of the gallery’s program. Since 1999, the gallery has expanded its repertoire and included representatives of art after 1945 as integral part of the gallery program, including artists such as Hermann Nitsch, Arnulf Rainer, Otto Mühl, Adolf Frohner, Hildegard Joos, Sigmar Polke, Antoni Tápies, Wolfgang Herzig, Franz Ringel, Robert Zeppel-Sperl, Max Weiler, Florentina Pakosta, Peter Sengl and more.

Also an essential part of the gallery program has always been to rework artist's oeuvres, that have been fallen into oblivion for example with exhibitions by artists such as the Austrian-British Hugo Puck Dachinger, who played a pioneering role in exile art, or Hildegard Joos (H+H Joos), the grande dame of geometric and constructive abstraction in Austria, and others like Herbert Bayer, Franz Ringel and Hermine Aichenegg.

Numerous exhibitions with accompanying artists' monographs, catalogue raisonnés as well as art historically compiled catalogs belong to the standard of gallery activity, but also the management of artist estates, the administration of artist archives and cooperation with museums and collections. The supreme premise for Martin Suppan is the offer of high quality.

We are specialized in:

• Exhibition projects and accompanying publications (see exhibitions and publications)
• Creation of catalogue raisonnés & and artist monographs (see publications)
• Management of artist estates and artist archives
• Creation of valuables and certificates of authenticity

We are looking for high-quality art and always take quality works from the era of impressionism, modernism and post-1945 art for purchase or commission-selling.

Give us your artworks by means of photographs or by e-mail. We assure you discretion and respond promptly.
